| The ruined city near the home where Gursch was raised was a place that his parents had told him about, especially in ways to caution against his going there. He had been told that the people who used to inhabit the city had no time to pack any belongings before the it was brought to the ground and most of the residents didn't even have the time to escape. As a result of the swift destruction, many treasures and useful items are said to have been left behind but that the ruins were haunted by vengeful spirits and had danger lurking behind every corner. . .
Given the current circumstance, Gursch found the need to gather supplies greater than the need to avoid danger as he proceeded past the fallen towers of the city's outer wall.

| As you pass one of the towers you notice a glint just inside the doorway. However there are 3 other immediate options.
1. A house with the door ajar. 2. an open street leading deeper toward the city's governing center. 3. A church yard.

| Deciding to follow the first clue he came to, Gursch slowly entered the tower which he had just passed in order to investigate the glint. In an attempt to prepare for danger, he took his hatchet in hand and gripped it in case something unpleasant were to show itself. | |

| The glint was a bag of gold coins! However, the sack is still in the grasp of an ancient skeleton. Apparently the owner couldn't stand to leave this small fortune go and perished trying to take it. There are far too many coins for you to take them all, and it will take time to gather them. The risk is high that you'll be discovered while taking them. | |

| Gursch decided to play it safe with this satchel of gold and aimed to grasp only a handful before leaving the tower. Holding the hatchet in one hand, he reached for some of the coins in the room while carefully scanning the room with his eyes. | |

| You score 25 gold, and a scrap of cloth! A few coins hit the ground making a seemingly clattering racket compared with the deadly silence in the rest of the city but it looks like no one noticed. You have a little more time to grab more coins before it's certain someone finds you. | |

| "I'm not gonna risk a fight over some loose cash... I need something more immediately useful." Gursch leaves the remaining money and moves on to investigate the church yard which he saw from the city gate. "I doubt any ground in this forsaken place could still be called holy, but I think there could be something to find here." | |

| In the church yard, you find a stone slab with some numbers scratched into the side. The numbers are 4,3,6,11. As you read them you notice a Croagunk watching you with an extremely bored look on his face. Like he had never seen something fascinating in his whole life. He gives a little hop in your direction. | |

| "4,3,6,11... I'll have to keep that in mind for later, in case it's a password for something..." Gursch stops talking to himself as he notices the approach of a ludicrously bored looking croagunk. Not entirely sure what to do, he simply faces the croagunk and waits for its reaction, not wanting to start anything just yet. | |

| The Croagunk clears his throat "You... *croak* You read that?". The croagunk, apparently non-violent at this immediate moment gives you a stare that chills your very bones. After you wait for a moment, "YOU READ THAT! *croak*" | |

| "What does that mean?! I don't even know what the numbers are for, is it wrong to look at a rock? The thing's just sitting there, if there's something I should know about it, just tell me!" Gursch couldn't explain why he was getting so defensive on this, but the croagunk definitely made him feel very, VERY uncomfortable. | |

| Gursch gritted his teeth, "great... three monsters at once. Well, i suppose I've got not choice but to fight it out!"
Gursch tightly gripped his hatchet and rushed at his assailants, attacking the croagunk with a heavy swing of his weapon! "Let's see if your big spirits can stop this!" (asking for it with that one...)

| Croagunk parries the blade but not enough to avoid a direct hit with the blunt end, knocking him out cold. (3 exp) Meanwhile Gastly uses hypnosis to try and put you to sleep! Duskull stares you down with a Leer! | |

| Gursch felt a supernatural force attempting to render him unconscious, but managed to break free of its hold before it could bring him down. Duskull's leer had brought him a slight degree of fear which made Gursch less able to defend himself.
In response, he lunged at the gastly, swinging his hatchet on the off chance that it may hurt his opponent. He wasn't getting his hopes up, and at the same time tried to think of something that would be more effective.

| The ordinary hatchet phases through the gastly, giving it an opportunity to Lick you with a chance of paralyzing! Duskull let's loose pure fear as Nightshade fills the cemetary!

| As the comically large tongue hits Gursch, it was most disgusting, but fortunately didn't paralyze him and it only sickened him somewhat. The nightshade, however, was much less pleasant as he felt his rational senses being assaulted by irrational fears causing his heart rate to accelerate dangerously for a moment. He had to think hard to overcome the fear which was invading his thoughts, and he managed to have a stroke of inspiration. Taking the scrap of cloth and lightly wiping some of the saliva from being licked onto it (just enough to make it sticky). He sticks the cloth to the blade of his hatchet and swung again at the gastly but in the swing also grinds the blade against a nearby tombstone, the sparks from which ignite the cloth scrap on his axe! "Phase through this, you blighter!" | |

| The fire disintegrates the Gastly instantly (3 exp) The Duskull continues to rain Nightshade on the area!

| as the gastly was dispersed, Gursch could feel his strength increase somewhat which gave him the willpower to resist the force of the nightshade on his mind. The cloth scrap wouldn't last much longer, so he rushed at the duskull to attack while he still had the advantage! | |

| The Duskull too focused on his power couldn't dodge the burning rag and was vaporized. (1 Exp) The conflict now settled, You notice another stone with a golden lock piece on it with four slots in them. They appear to have a specific requirements for each one.

| Still breathing hard from his previous conflict, Gursch went over to inspect this strange rock, "4 slots, 4 numbers. Suppose I'll just have to give it a shot..." Gursch turned the numbers in the 4 slots to match the ones which he read off of the other stone. *click* "4,3,6,11... that ought to do it. Let's see what happens now."

| The lock glows and a crack races up the slab! The slab soon crumbles revealing a suit of armor, Perfectly intact. It has all the pieces except a head and is pretty close to your size. There's no question it's pretty heavy, but it would definitely help in a fight. | |

| Gursch was surprised to find a complete set of armor hidden away in this slab, "How long has that been there? Looks to be pretty close to my size, although it does seem a little bit too big. I'll have to try and put it on later when I can be sure that I won't be interrupted. At the very least I'd better take it with me for now..."
Gursch equipped the iron gloves and stored the remainder of the armor in his inventory. He then proceeded to walk to the front door of the ruined chapel to see what was kept inside it.

| Inside you see a number of scattered benches and a podium. Behind the podium is a Sneasel dressed in white robes, and she is apparently preaching something to the skeltonized church goers. She immediately notices you coming in and addresses you "Ah! Another sheep to the fold. Please! Please! have a seat! We were just finishing!" She then poured a mysterious substance into a cup and pushes it to the far end of the podium. "You must be thirsty. Have a drink. There's plenty more where that came from." | |

| Gursch was very much surprised by his welcoming into the church building in contrast to the fight he had just outside its walls, he was hesitant to drink the mysterious liquid but didn't want to upset his host. It may have also been a lingering dizziness from the heavy mental assault launched against him minutes beforehand, but he drank the mysterious substance which was placed in front of him. | |
